Mackay Fabric Structures & Industrial Tents
Fabric Arch Shelters are engineered industrial Fabric Structures and Shade Structures that have been a popular solution in Mackay for mining, marine, aviation, sports and general industry for almost three (3) decades. Fabrics includes PVC or PE (and shade cloth) with Galvanized Steel or Aluminum frames. 2022 we will introduce polished wood and heat bent bamboo frames - which are aesthetic, strong and sustainable alternatives to galvanized steel.
Fabric Arch Shelters (soft tops) are perfect for Queensland as they are a cooler option to metal roofs which can really soak up the suns heat (up to 65 deg), whereas a fabric canopy has no convection properties keeping it cooler and delightful to work and play beneath. Arch Shelters can be enclosed using end walls and doors with optionally a second insulating roof (e.g. inflated PVC, PE or quilted space blanket) to be able to successfully install air-conditioning.
If designed correctly, Fabric Arch Shelters can be cyclone rated up to Region C to handle wind gusts of up to 233 kph, but as both Debbie and Yasi exceeded local wind speeds by 260 and 290 kph respectively, many "cyclone certified" structures would have failed. 100K inland in Queensland is considered safe to use Cyclone Engineered Arch Shelters.
Industrial Strength Tents and Pavilions
Aluminum Frame Industrial Tents
and Pavilions are also available for sports, events and some industrial applications.
Industrial Aluminium or Steel Tents
and Pavilions mostly brought in from Europe or China are the big guys of the fabric structure family and can be used for permanent siting if well inland, out of the cyclone belt, i.e. 150-200 km from the Mackay coast, or have maximum wind gusts of 120 kph.
There are thousands of styles of Industrial Tents and Pavilions, they can be no frills industrial spaces sourced from China or engineered artistic master pieces for stadiums and event halls designed in Australia or Europe. Industrial Tents and Pavilions can be huge up to 100 meters wide and can be engineered to withstand our teasing cyclones. In Cyclone Season on the tropical coast, tempory structures (if permitted by Council in the Cyclone Season at all) must be ready to dismantle quickly before a cyclone makes landfall and we all know about the Russian Roulette game we play with Cyclones on the Queensland Coast!
Note Until further notice, Splash has ceased retailing DIY structures directly to the public or 3rd party installers.
